What are some features that make your business unique?
Tom’s Tuckpointing is and has always been a family-owned and operated business, we are a specialty contractor that has its roots in the restoration of historic masonry buildings and homes. In later years, the company has added various types of waterproofing which include new construction as well.
Give a brief history of your business:
Tom’s Tuckpointing Co. began in 1963 and was started by owners Thomas (Tom) and Carolyn Wilson. It changed the name in 2004 to, Tom’s Tuckpointing, LLC. The area of operation includes Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. Over the decades of operation, the company has performed masonry work to all types of brick and masonry structures such as Schools, churches, courthouses, commercial businesses, and residential homes. Tom and Carolyn Wilson’s sons, David and Greg both grew up in Corning going to school and working in the family business during summer breaks. Greg joined the business on a full-time basis in 1986 after attending college at Arkansas State University and continues today as President and operations manager of the company’s business operations. David pursued a career in education. While teaching and serving as an administrator in various school districts in Missouri, he continued his education and obtained a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri. He has since relocated to Springdale Arkansas where he is employed at the University of Arkansas. Carolyn Wilson has always been an anchor for the company. You will still find her at the office pretty much every day where she continues to support the field operations as she has done for many, many years.
What do you see for the future of your business?
The types of work being done have evolved, but masonry restoration is still at the heart of our business. There are no immediate plans to change the structure of the business. We continue to operate in much the same fashion as we have for decades. Tom, our founder and driving force for so many years is no longer with us. But his legacy lives on in the way we continue to do business and serve our customers. Matthew Wilson is a tremendous part of the work we do since joining the company in 2013. He is one of Tom’s grandsons.
By God’s grace and provision, we have made it this far. Our plans are, that He will see us thru for many years to come.
